Overview

The MKSH1G10B carries the snowflake design of the MKSH1 series — eight branches around a 52 mm disc, 1.5 mm thick, with a central lanyard hole — in a plate of blue G10. The colour runs right through the laminate and reads on the edge as clearly as on the faces. This is a star built for target practice, and one you spot easily on a bench or in the grass thanks to that shade.

G10, a technical laminate

G10 is a composite: sheets of glass fibre cloth are soaked in epoxy resin, stacked, then hot-pressed into a hard, even plate. It does not rust, does not swell in damp air and does not move with changes in temperature. What matters most here is how it handles repeated impact: a throwing star spends its life hitting a target, and the laminate absorbs those hits without splitting into layers. The colour, added during manufacture, goes through the full thickness.

A hole is drilled through the centre of the disc to take a lanyard or cord. The piece is made in one part, with nothing assembled or added on. The blue runs through the full thickness of the laminate.

Care

G10 asks for almost nothing: warm water, a little soap, a soft brush to clear the sawdust trapped between the branches, then a wipe dry with a cloth. It fears neither damp nor corrosion, and the blue will not flake off because it belongs to the laminate itself. Store the star flat once fully dry, and run a hand over the branches before each session to check that no splinter from the target has stayed caught on them.
