Overview

The TIKNU2+ is the TIKNU2 put through colour. The dimensions do not move — 69 mm long, 33 mm wide, 6 mm thick for 26 g — and the bottle opener stays cut into the profile of the solid titanium. Only the surface changes, treated by anodising. The shop states that the resulting shade can vary between examples: that is the nature of the process, which depends on settings judged piece by piece rather than on a standardised tin of colour.

The built-in bottle opener

The notch cut into the edge works as a first-class lever. One lip goes under the rim of the cap, the solid part of the titanium acts as the fulcrum, and a turn of the wrist lifts the crown off its seal. Nothing sticks out, nothing pivots: the function lives in the line of the profile, which does away with any moving part. On 6 mm titanium machined from solid, that notch keeps the full section of the block all around it.

Care

After a cap, a quick rinse and a wipe stop sugar drying inside the notch. On an anodised piece, stay with water and mild soap: strippers, household spirit and polishes for bright metal all attack the oxide layer that carries the shade. The dishwasher is best avoided too. A soft cloth passed over it now and again keeps the colour at its original strength with nothing else required.
