Overview

The PACKCAMPEUR is the one set in the series that carries no cutler's name: it is built around a trip rather than around a signature. Four pieces make it up, and each answers a specific camp gesture — lighting, cutting, serving, tying. Inside are 30 metres of paracord, the MKFSP fire starter, the P04BE multi-tool knife and the MK116D folding knife. Nothing overlaps: it is a set of complementary tools packed in one box, ready to drop into a rucksack exactly as it comes.

What each piece brings to camp

The MKFSP is a magnesium fire starter, 101 mm long for 24 grams, with a compass and a whistle built in — three functions on an object that fits a jacket pocket. The MK116D takes over as soon as something needs cutting: a 64 mm tanto blade in 12C27 steel on a plastic handle with a desert finish. The P04BE is a picnic multi-tool knife, the one that comes out for the meal once the fire is going. And the 30 metres of paracord will rig a tarp, lash a pack or stand in for a lace.

Care

Back from a trip, dry the blades of the MK116D and the P04BE before folding them away: what marks a folder is the moisture left in the pivot, far more than the use it gets. A drop of fine oil on the pivot keeps the opening crisp. The MKFSP magnesium rod is stored dry and away from anything that rubs against it. Paracord that has picked up mud is rinsed in clean water, then dried flat and unwound before being coiled again.
