Overview

The PACKBASTINELLIM is the size M of the Bastinelli sets: two pieces chosen around the same pocket logic. The MKB1, named Le Karamdrink, is a compact fixed blade measuring 125 mm overall, with a 50 mm hawkbill in 440C steel and a black G10 handle. Alongside it sits the Bastinelli bottle opener, the table tool of the line. One cuts, the other opens — the shortest pairing in the range, and the one the size L builds on.

The Karamdrink hawkbill

A hawkbill blade curves downward like a bird's beak: the edge hollows instead of bulging. Material is caught inside that hollow rather than sliding away ahead of the edge, which makes for a decisive cut on webbing, cardboard or any cord pulled towards you. Across 50 mm of edge the curve does the work with almost no pressure behind it. Le Karamdrink adds a second function on top: a bottle-opener blade cut into the knife itself, which is where the name comes from.

Technical specifications

The set holds two pieces. The MKB1 Le Karamdrink is a fixed-blade knife: 440C steel, 50 mm hawkbill blade, 125 mm overall length, black G10 handle, with an integral bottle-opener blade. The second item is the Bastinelli bottle opener, a multi-function tool from the same line. Together they make up the size M of the Bastinelli sets; the size L keeps both and adds the MKB3 fixed blade.

Care

440C is a stainless steel, which is no reason to leave it wet. Rinse the blade in clean water after use, dry it straight away and wipe the edge with a lightly oiled cloth before the MKB1 goes back into storage. The G10 handle asks for nothing more than a damp sponge. The bottle opener deserves the same rinse once the round is over: sugary residue dries sticky and stays that way.
