Max Knives TIKNU6+ — Anodised titanium pocket tool, 37 × 51 mm

Overview

The TIKNU6+ takes the TIKNU6 body and gives it colour. The titanium, machined 100 % from solid, goes through an anodising bath that tints it in a single shade while leaving the metal visible beneath. The footprint measures 37 × 51 mm with a thickness of 15 mm, and the tungsten carbide glass breaker sits exactly where it does on the satin version. This variant comes as a first run limited to 100 numbered pieces, each one carrying its place in the run.

The TIKNU6+ does not come from a catalogue of generic shapes: its lines were drawn by P. SUPPER and the whole is covered by a registered design. Registration protects the appearance of the object, its silhouette, its curves and the placing of its volumes, quite apart from what it is for. In practice that means the shape you hold is credited to its author and cannot be lifted as it stands by anyone else. For a collector it is a marker: the drawing is dated, signed, and every piece in the first run descends straight from it.

Care

The coloured layer of an anodised titanium belongs to the metal and cannot flake the way a lacquer would: a wipe with a soft cloth, dry or barely damp, keeps the tone crisp. Keep solvents, acetone and polishing creams away, since they would attack the oxide layer and shift the colour in patches. If the piece has taken moisture, dry it before it goes back into the pocket, paying attention around the carbide.
