Overview

The MKTICAR reduces the multi-tool to its simplest form: a titanium plate 62 mm by 31 mm, 2 mm thick, weighing 12 g. Cut into it are a bottle opener, a flat-head screwdriver and three hex keys of 8, 10 and 12. A small ring machined at one end lets you hang it from a keyring or a rucksack, and the 2 mm thickness means it slides into a pocket, a bag pouch or a desk drawer without taking up room.

The 8, 10 and 12 hex cut-outs match the sizes met most often on small assemblies: bicycle hardware, flat-pack furniture, camping gear, workshop fixings. Because they are opened through the thickness of the plate, they close onto the flat of the nut and the card itself becomes the lever, the whole thing held between two fingers. That is what separates a multi-tool card from a decorative keyring: the functions are machined into the material, with nothing to unfold or assemble.

Care

Titanium is happy with warm soapy water, a rinse and a wipe with a soft cloth. It resists corrosion, so no oil and no special product are called for. A soft toothbrush run through the hex cut-outs is enough to clear the dust and lint they collect at the bottom of a pocket. Avoid abrasive pads, which leave marks on the surface of the plate, and store the card flat so it keeps its profile.
