Overview

The NS148 is measured differently from its neighbours: not by a diameter, but by three sides of 90 mm. Three arms only, widely separated, draw a clean triangular figure a long way from the rosettes of the range. The plate is 3 mm of 420 stainless steel, the finish is silver, and the belt sheath comes with the piece.

Three arms in a collection that runs to eight

A series of shurikens is not assembled at random; it is read through its intervals. The NS148 and its three arms hold one end, the NS151 and its eight tips the other, and everything in between takes meaning by comparison. Placed side by side, these figures tell different stories: the triangle leaves broad voids on show, the eight-point star nearly fills a disc. That variety of outlines, at identical material and finish, is what makes a complete collection more interesting than a single piece.

Care

Three arms, three faces to wipe: looking after the NS148 goes quickly. A soft cloth over both flat faces, a pass between the arms, and the piece is ready to go away. What 420 stainless steel mainly asks is to be dry before storage, so after a session in the rain, allow the time for a complete dry. A trace of light oil, spread by hand, keeps the silver surface even between outings.
