Max Knives IWV — Green polycarbonate Impact Watch, one-finger grip

Overview

The IWV is the green version of the Max Knives Impact Watch, moulded in the same through-coloured polycarbonate as the rest of the catalogue. Green sits well with khaki and olive bags and jackets and stays easier to read than black against a dark background. Like the others it keeps the format of a pocket watch and is taken with a single finger, the ring taking care of the hanging.

The one-finger format

The whole drawing follows from one simple constraint: the piece has to sit on a finger and nothing else. The ring takes the index or the middle finger, the body rests against the palm, and the hand stays available to carry, to open, to hold something else. That is what separates this format from an object gripped in a full fist: it is picked up and let go without a thought, and it finds its place on the belt in a single gesture, the way a watch goes back into its fob pocket.

Green polycarbonate, the colour built into the material. Pocket watch silhouette, hanging ring, one-finger hold. The object attaches to a belt, a trouser loop or a bag. The drawing is by PSUPPER and the model has the approval of Fred Perrin. The Impact Watch series offers six polycarbonate tones as well as two steel references, the IWA1 and the IWA3, for those who prefer metal.

Care

Warm water, mild soap, a cloth: polycarbonate expects nothing more. It does not oxidise, asks for neither oil nor grease, and takes rain and the damp of a bag without complaint. Dry the piece after cleaning to keep a clean surface. Solvent-based products are best set aside. A regular check of the ring and the carabiner is enough to make sure the whole set is holding in place.
