Overview

The FP2402C is the slimmest titanium buckle in the Fred Perrin range together with the strap that goes with it, gathered into one set. The buckle stretches to 78 mm long and 50 mm wide, for only 5 mm of thickness and 36 grams: a quiet plate of titanium with no applied decoration. The belt is leather, 130 cm long, and closes with a press stud. The piece therefore arrives assembled and ready to run through the loops.

One strap, four buckles

The press stud that closes the belt is not merely a fastening: it is what makes the strap demountable. Undo the stud, slide the buckle off, put on whichever one you want, with no tools and no stitching to redo. The 130 cm of leather can also be trimmed back to the right length. That same strap takes all four buckles in the range, the FP2402 supplied here, the FP2401, the PA22B and the PA22S, which amounts to owning one belt and several ways of finishing it. That is the argument for the set: take the whole, change the detail later.

Care

The titanium of the buckle cleans up with a soft cloth, dampened if need be with lukewarm water and a neutral soap, then dried; the metal does not rust and needs no coating of any kind. The leather of the strap asks for a little more attention: let it dry at room temperature if it has taken on moisture, never against a source of heat, and give it a nourishing leather milk from time to time. Store the belt rolled rather than sharply folded.
