Max Knives FP20 — Neoprene wallet, 32 cm, with press stud closure

Overview

The FP20 is a neoprene wallet, 32 cm long, with a flat outline. A pocket is set into the front to hold banknotes, while the whole thing closes with a tab and a press stud. Velcro is fitted on both faces of the pouch. Neoprene, supple and even, folds over without creasing and finds its shape again once released. The front panel is black and carries the FP monogram of Fred Perrin, the only graphic element on the piece.

The neoprene used here is a supple elastomer, a dense material that returns to its original shape by itself after being folded, which is why a pouch of this length puts away without holding on to a sharp crease.

Velcro on both faces

The strips of Velcro run along the front as well as the back of the pouch, not on one face alone. That is what lets the FP20 fold back on itself and stay shut once folded, and also what lets it attach to any other surface fitted with the matching loop side — the lining of a bag, the inside of a pocket, an organiser panel. A 32 cm pouch that stays where you put it handles quite differently from one that slides around.

Care

Neoprene is cleaned by hand, in lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap, then rinsed with clean water. Leave it to dry flat, in open air, away from a radiator or from full sun: strong heat eventually stiffens this kind of material. The press stud simply asks to be dried after any contact with water. As for the strips of Velcro, a quick pass with a brush or a comb lifts the lint that clings to them and gives them back their original grip.
