What it is
G10 is a laminate of glass cloth and epoxy resin, compressed and cured. It is normally used for handle scales, because it is stable, grippy and unbothered by moisture. Here it makes up the entire knife: blade, body and ring are cut from a single sheet. The result weighs 19 g — a third of a steel Griffe.
What G10 brings
Nothing rusts, nothing tarnishes, nothing minds salt water or household products. The object is so light — 19 g — that you do not feel it on you. And G10 keeps a positive grip even wet, which is why it is used everywhere for working knife handles. The designer
La Griffe is Fred Perrin's most emblematic design. Born in the late 1980s from a concrete need for retention and accessibility, it became a concept made continuously for over thirty years, in steel as well as in composites.
Care
None. G10 washes with soapy water, is indifferent to salt water and to ordinary household products, and needs no oiling. Fine abrasive paper is enough to refresh the edge if it dulls.
