Overview

The FP1905, known as La Dague, is the larger of the two daggers in the series: 205 mm overall, of which 93 mm is blade and 112 mm handle. Blade and handle come from the same block of 440C steel, in a one-piece build, and take a stone wash finish that gives the whole an even matt grey. Blade stock reaches 3.2 mm. The handle is drilled with holes made to take a paracord lanyard. A moulded kydex sheath comes with the knife. Created by Fred Perrin for Max Knives.

The needle point blade and the lanyard holes

Needle point describes a blade whose two edges converge steadily to a fine tip centred on the axis: the outline is symmetrical and tapered, with no belly and no raised false edge. Here both edges are sharpened, which makes the FP1905 a double-edged blade in the strict sense. The handle, for its part, is drilled: the holes take a paracord lanyard that you thread and knot yourself, a simple detail that leaves the rigging open and removes a little material along the way.

Care

440C steel is stainless but still reacts to prolonged damp: wipe the blade after every contact with water and dry it before it returns to the sheath. A light film of knife oil suits storage over several months. The stone wash finish is revived with a soft dry cloth. The kydex washes in lukewarm water and then air dries. If you fit a paracord lanyard, let it dry outside the sheath after any soaking.
