Overview

The NS142 is the smallest star of the group, and two numbers say it: 76 mm across and 20 g. Six short arms sit around the hub, giving an almost continuous outline despite the reduced size. The 420 stainless plate measures 2 mm, the finish is black, and the belt sheath supplied barely registers once it is in place, so compact is the piece.

The small format of the series

Between the 76 mm of the NS142 and the 125 mm of the NS143 lie nearly fifty millimetres, and those are not the same object in hand. The small star closes entirely inside the hollow of the palm, slips into a sheath pocket rather than filling it, and its 20 g are barely felt at the end of the arm. This is the format you take along without thinking for an unplanned target session, and the one that claims the least room in a collector's drawer.

Delivered with a belt sheath. For the same number of points, the NS149 measures 100 mm at 3 mm, so the two six-point stars of the range have little in common beyond the tally of their arms.

Care

Small piece, quick routine. A dry cloth runs over the six arms in seconds and clears the wood dust caught in the inner angles. If the star has dived into wet grass, rinse then dry before storage, since 420 stainless has no taste for sitting damp inside a closed sheath. A drop of light oil spread with a fingertip covers 76 mm of diameter.
