Overview

The MKBAMOT wears the desert-coloured G10 handle of the MKBAM series, 77 mm long, with a ceramic drop-point blade 51 mm long, 25 mm wide and 2 mm thick. Open, it measures 132 mm for 33 grams, and the blade is held by a liner lock. Paracord and a kydex sheath with lanyard come with the knife. Desert G10 gives this version the sand tone of the range.

How the liner lock works

A liner lock is a leaf spring cut into the liner of the handle. As the blade reaches the end of its travel, that tongue springs across and sits behind the heel of the blade, which can no longer close on your fingers. To fold the knife, you push the tongue back inwards with your thumb and guide the blade home, a move you can make with one hand. On a 33 gram knife like the MKBAMOT, this mechanism has the advantage of adding no external part to the handle.

Care

The ceramic blade rinses under clear water and wipes dry, with no oil and no rust precautions. Desert G10, lighter than the other colours in the series, benefits from soapy water and a soft brush after outdoor use. Dry the kydex sheath before storage, and both the pivot and the liner lock spring appreciate a drop of fine oil from time to time.
