Sibling to the KNUCKAN, the KNUCKANBK carries over the catalogue's large titanium format: 110 mm by 60, eleven millimetres at its thickest, for a listed weight of 179 g, eight grams under its counterpart. The metal is given as 100% titanium and the end receives a tungsten carbide tip that serves as a glass breaker. The piece does not travel bare: it comes with a heat-moulded kydex sheath made to ride on a belt.

The kydex sheath and belt carry

Kydex is a thermoplastic sheet that is heated, pressed onto the piece and left to cool: the resulting sheath follows the outline exactly and holds the object by its shape alone, with no strap and no stud. You hear and feel it click as the piece goes in. Unlike leather, this plastic takes on no water, does not warp as it dries and never grows mould; it simply rinses off. Mounted on a belt it fixes the orientation of the piece and stops it turning, which matters for a 179 g object you would rather not have rattling loose in a bag.

Care

The sheath deserves more regular attention: kydex washes in soapy water and dries in open air, away from any heat source, because the material warps at high temperature. Do not leave it behind a windscreen in full sun. Finally, check the belt fitting, whose screws can loosen over the months.
