Overview

The MK161 aims at sustained daily use. Its 87 mm stainless steel drop point blade swings out of a 122 mm G10 handle and takes the knife to 199 mm open. The assist spring, triggered from the thumb stud, finishes the movement as soon as the blade is under way, and the liner lock then holds it in place. A pocket clip completes the package, for a 132 g knife that is always within reach.

A G10 handle 12.65 mm thick

Handle thickness is a figure few people look at and one that changes everything in the hand: at 12.65 mm, the MK161 fills the palm and leaves room for the fingers, which limits fatigue over a run of long cuts. G10, a laminate of glass fibre and resin, adds a surface that grips without rasping and total indifference to moisture, welcome when you work outdoors or with wet hands.

Care

An assisted knife lives by its spring: keep the joint clean, free of sawdust and grit, and add a drop of light oil to the pivot regularly so the opening stays immediate. Wipe the blade after each use, especially after cutting damp materials. The G10 handle washes with soapy water. Finally, check the pocket clip screws, which work every time the knife passes over a belt.
