Overview

The PBF-8 closes the series of eight. It takes the angled-groove handle of the PBF-7 — two zones of diagonal cuts on arms of black anodized aluminium, of integral construction — and gives it a 107 mm tanto blade. The edge runs straight, then breaks at a marked angle into a short, reinforced point. Two exposed pivot screws, light satin finish. Just 109 g, 142 mm closed, 245 mm open.

D2 tool steel, marked at the ricasso

All eight PBF share the same steel: a D2 tool steel whose name is engraved at the ricasso beside the house logo. Here it is shaped into a 107 mm tanto, plain edge and 3 mm thick at the spine — enough to give the blade the mass that makes a butterfly knife turn properly around its two pivots. The light satin finish leaves the grind and the marking visible. Same steel, same thickness and same marking across all eight references on the grid: what changes from one model to the next is the tip and the handle pattern.

Care

Run a soft brush through the grooves to keep them crisp, then a dry cloth over the blade before oiling it lightly: D2 tool steel appreciates that protective film. The two pivots are maintained with light oil and retightened as needed, which keeps the rotation even. As on every tanto blade in the series, sharpening is carried out in two distinct stages: the straight edge, then the short facet of the tip.
