Overview
The MK163 openly takes on a rescue role. Its 86 mm modified tanto blade in stainless steel opens with spring assistance, its spine carries a belt cutter and the end of the handle a glass-breaker tip. The handle combines steel and anodised aluminium in a golden sand colour, measures 119 mm closed and takes the knife to 205 mm open. At 146 g it makes itself felt on the belt, right where you reach for it.
Belt cutter and glass breaker, two emergency functions
The belt cutter machined into the spine works as a hook: you feed the webbing into the throat and pull, while the protected edge stays clear of the occupant. The glass breaker concentrates the energy of a strike onto a hard point, aimed at the lower corner of a side window rather than its centre. Two functions that are almost never used, and that alone justify a knife kept in a door pocket or a bag.

Care
Check that the throat of the belt cutter stays free of fibres after use: a puff of air or a wooden point clears it. Wipe the blade and dry the joint, then oil the pivot lightly to keep the assist spring alert. The golden sand handle cleans with a damp cloth and no abrasive product. On a blade 3 mm thick, sharpening can be taken calmly at a steady angle.
