Overview

Inside its 120 mm black anodised aluminium handle, the MKO35T carries a 78 mm D2 tanto blade, 3 mm thick, which shoots out along the axis of the knife and brings the whole thing to 205 mm. The stated 113 g feel in the hand like the weight of a tool rather than a pocket accessory. This is the angled-tip version of the MKO35 series, aimed at people whose work involves piercing, opening and forcing rigid material more often than peeling or slicing gently.

What a tanto tip changes

A tanto does not end in a curve but in an angle. The edge runs straight across most of the blade, then breaks sharply to meet a secondary ground tip. That break leaves a lot of steel right behind the very end, precisely where a fine point is most exposed under pressure. In use you punch through webbing, double-wall cardboard or a stretched tarpaulin with a firm push, and the long straight section behaves like a chisel on cuts made against a flat surface. The trade-off is deliberate: less belly for rolling cuts, more muscle where you lean on it.

Care

Packing tape, cardboard glue and sap leave sticky deposits that trap moisture against the steel, so they are best removed the same day with a cloth and warm soapy water, then the flat and the angled tip dried carefully. Since D2 is not fully stainless, never put it away wet and give it an occasional veil of light oil. On the handle, a rinse in clean water lifts salt and dust without attacking the anodising, and the nylon sheath should air dry before it takes the knife back.
