Overview

The MKO35TMINI carries over the series OTF double action mechanism in a reduced frame: 112 mm with the blade retracted, 177 mm deployed, 84 g. Its D2 tanto blade measures 68 mm and 3 mm thick, a big-knife thickness over a small-knife length, which leaves the angled tip unusually well supported. The black anodised aluminium handle takes a reversible belt clip and a glass breaker, turning a pocket format into a workstation or vehicle tool.

MINI against the full-size version

The MKO35 series comes in two sizes, and the decision rests on plain figures. The full-size model deploys a 78 mm blade and states 112 g, while this MINI stops at 68 mm of blade for 84 g: one centimetre less cutting edge, close to thirty grams less to carry. That centimetre matters when you slice thick webbing or work deep into a material; those thirty grams matter when the knife stays clipped to a light trouser pocket from morning to evening. The 28 mm difference in overall length also changes how the tool sits in a vehicle tray or a jacket pocket.

Care

A knife this size lives clipped inside a pocket, and pockets produce lint: it gathers around the track and eventually slows the blade down. A regular look inside, helped by a dry brush or compressed air, prevents that. The blade is treated like any D2, meaning wiped and dried as soon as it has met water, sweat or acidic fruit, and lightly oiled before a spell without use. The anodised handle only needs a damp cloth, with no abrasive product that would dull the black finish.
