Overview
On a butterfly knife the finish shows more than on any other knife: opening sets handles and blade in motion, and the eye follows. The P48 goes fully monochrome — black-treated blade, black anodized aluminium handles — for an unbroken silhouette in rotation. The spear-point blade, symmetrical in profile but ground on one side, carries that clean line through.

Aluminium, for speed
Aluminium handles lighten the knife and move the centre of gravity towards the blade. In practice it pivots faster and answers the wrist sooner: the choice for quick rotations and long sessions. A steel-handled model, like the P53S in this range, gives a broader rotation you feel carry instead.
3Cr13
A stainless steel known for how easily it is maintained: the edge comes back in a few passes on an ordinary stone, without special equipment, and the steel resists moisture very well. On a knife you handle constantly and sharpen often, that is exactly the quality you want.
Care
A drop of light oil on each of the two pivots keeps the rotation free. Check the pivot and latch screws regularly — on a butterfly knife they work on every flip. The black finish comes alive at the contact points over time: the patina of a knife that gets used.
