Overview

The MKBAMBK takes the MKBAM series all-black: an 80 mm black G10 handle and a ceramic drop-point blade 51 mm long, 25 mm wide and 2 mm thick. Open, the knife measures 132 mm and weighs 33 grams; the blade locks with a liner lock. Paracord and a kydex sheath with lanyard come with the knife. Black G10, ceramic blade and paracord make up a knife you can slip into a jacket pocket and forget.

What a ceramic blade changes

Ceramic is not a steel: it is a sintered mineral material, far harder, and it holds its edge much longer than a steel blade doing the same work. It does not rust, does not react to acidic food and leaves no metallic taste on what it cuts, which counts when you slice fruit, open a pouch or put together a snack on the move. That hardness also explains how light the MKBAMBK stays: 33 grams for 132 mm open.

Care

A ceramic blade asks for less than steel: no oil, no worry about damp. Rinsing with clear water and drying with a cloth is enough after food use. The black G10 handle cleans up with soapy water, and the kydex sheath should be rinsed and dried before the knife goes back in. A drop of fine oil on the pivot and on the liner lock spring keeps the action even.
