- Blade length90mm
- Blade material3Cr13 steel
- Overall length208mm
- Handle materialStainless steel
The MK148 is the only knife in the series to pair a stonewashed clip point blade with a mixed stainless steel and G10 handle, with dual thumb studs and assisted opening.
Overview
The MK148 measures 208 mm open and 118 mm closed, with a 90 mm clip point blade in 3Cr13 steel. Where the rest of the series goes black, this one takes a stonewashed finish, matt grey and irregular. Its handle marries two materials, stainless steel and G10, and its blade carries dual thumb studs served by an assisted opening. The lock is a liner lock, and the rescue equipment of the series is present: a belt cutter and a glass breaker. A belt clip completes the knife.
Stonewash and a two-material handle
A stonewashed finish is produced by tumbling blades in a drum with an abrasive: the surface comes out matt, covered in a multitude of small crossing marks. The appeal is as practical as it is visual, since that irregular ground absorbs the eye and lets the scratches of use disappear into the pattern. On the handle side, the MK148 combines stainless steel, which brings structure and mass, with G10, a laminate of glass cloth and resin that is hard, indifferent to water and textured under the fingers. Two materials, two roles, on one handle.
Technical specifications
Clip point blade in 3Cr13 stainless steel, stonewashed finish, plain edge, 90 mm long. Handle in stainless steel and G10 measuring 118 mm, which is the closed length of the knife; overall open length 208 mm. Assisted opening operated by dual thumb studs usable with either hand. Liner lock mechanism. Belt clip, belt cutter and glass-breaker point.
Care
A stonewashed finish forgives the marks of use, but it has no time for aggressive products: soapy water, a soft cloth, and certainly no abrasive cream that would polish the blade in patches. The G10 is cleaned the same way, with a soft brush to lift out whatever stays in the texture. Dry everything afterwards, paying attention to the join between the two materials and to the pivot. A drop of light oil two or three times a year keeps the assisted action crisp and even.
Legal notice. Carrying a knife in public without a legitimate reason is an offence in France and in most European countries. Check the law that applies where the order is delivered before purchasing.
