Max Knives FPPUSHB — Black 440C mini push dagger, Fred Perrin design

Overview

The FPPUSHB is the black version of the mini push dagger drawn by Fred Perrin. Everything fits inside a rectangle 80 mm long by 53 mm wide and 2.6 mm thick, in which the double-edged blade takes up 45 mm and the handle 35 mm. 440C steel in a stone wash finish makes up the entire piece. On the scales it comes to 48 grams. It ships with a moulded kydex sheath and a paracord. Those 53 mm of width are the most telling figure of the model: they are what dictates the T-shaped outline.

Four materials, one drawing

This mini push dagger exists in four versions, strictly identical in their figures — 80 x 53 mm, 2.6 mm thick, a 45 mm blade — and distinct in material or finish: the FPPUSHB in black steel, the FPPUSHS in silver steel, the FPPUSHT in titanium and the FPPUSHG10 in G10. One outline, four readings. Fred Perrin has spent more than thirty years working this idea of a format pared down to essentials, and the series gives four material variations of it without altering the drawing.

Care

440C is a stainless steel: it simply asks to be wiped and dried after any contact with water, before going back into its sheath. A drop of knife oil spread with a cloth is enough for long-term storage. The stone wash finish, obtained by tumbling the piece with media, carries an irregular grain that takes in small marks of use rather well. The kydex rinses under lukewarm water and air dries; the paracord washes in soapy water.
