Overview

You spot the MK160 by its anodised aluminium handle finished in green and khaki camouflage, matched with an 81 mm black blade. That combination of tones suits a hiking pack as readily as a glovebox. Flipper opening, one push of the index finger

The flipper is a tab standing proud of the spine when the blade is folded. A short push from the index finger swings it round, the blade travels and settles onto its liner lock, with no involvement from the thumb. It is a quick movement, made with the hand already in the cutting position, and it brings a second benefit: once the blade is open, the tab moves to the edge side and acts as a guard for that finger.

Care

Anodising copes with water but not with abrasives: clean the camouflage handle with a soft cloth and soapy water to preserve the contrast between the tones. Dry the knife afterwards, joint included, then oil the pivot with a single drop to keep the flipper lively. Wipe the black blade after use. Sharpening at a steady angle on a fine stone preserves the original geometry of the 2.36 mm blade.
