Overview

The MKSH1Ti is the titanium version of the MKSH1 series: eight branches laid out as a snowflake around a 52 mm disc, 1.5 mm thick, with a lanyard hole at the centre. What sets it apart is its surface, anodised in the variant known as Crazy. Colours run across it in irregular sweeps from one branch to the next, and no example repeats the pattern of another.

The Crazy treatment

Anodising titanium is not painting it. An electric current grows a very thin oxide layer on the surface of the metal, and the thickness of that layer decides the colour you see: blues, purples, golds and greens appear from zone to zone. The Crazy treatment lets the effect run wild, so each piece leaves with its own colour map. That is what makes it a genuine collector's item: the one you receive will match no other, including the ones in the photographs.

The material is titanium, anodised in its Crazy version. The colours come from that surface treatment and vary from one example to the next, so the piece delivered may differ from the pictures shown.

Care

The colours of the MKSH1Ti come from an oxide layer at the surface: clean the piece with a soft cloth, dry or barely damp, and keep scouring powder and abrasive pads away from it, as they would wear that layer down. Titanium does not rust and needs no oil. Dry it after any contact with water, then store the star flat, apart from metal items that could rub against it inside a box or a pouch.
