Overview

The NS135 is a five-point throwing star measuring 90 mm across, cut from a 3 mm plate of 420 stainless steel. Its blue titanium finish tells it apart at a glance from the silver pieces of the NS series: on a throwing board or behind glass, you always know which one is yours. Ninety millimetres keeps the star compact, closing inside a palm and dropping straight back into the belt sheath that comes with it.

A blue titanium finish found nowhere else in the series

Across the NS stars, only the NS135 wears a blue titanium finish; the rest work in silver, black or red. The colour does more than look good. Against pale wood the blue reads clearly, so a long throw is quick to locate, grass included. Laid flat in a collection, it becomes the visual anchor the silver pieces arrange themselves around, and it removes any doubt between two stars of similar diameter.

Care

420 stainless steel takes damp weather in its stride, yet a star that has spent an afternoon outdoors deserves two minutes on the way home. Rinse it under clear water if it has picked up soil, dry it with a soft cloth, working between the points, then wipe a thin film of oil over the metal before it goes back in the sheath. Check that the inside of the sheath is dry too: that is where moisture lingers longest.
