Overview

The P16OL moves up a scale. At 115 mm closed, 205 mm open and with an 82 mm 440C steel blade, it speaks to anyone who wants real cutting length in a knife that still folds: preparing a meal at camp, cutting through heavy rope, outdoor jobs where a short blade would need three passes. The olive wood handle, 27 mm wide, fills the hand behind those 120 g.

The anti-opening safety

On a knife this size, carrying matters as much as cutting. The P16OL has an anti-opening safety that immobilises the blade until you deliberately release it, so the knife can travel in a rucksack, a car boot or a toolbox without the blade trying to swing out. Once that safety is disengaged, the assisted opening throws the blade out in one movement and the liner-lock type closure holds it in the working position.

Care

An olive handle this wide deserves an annual treatment with wood oil, applied thinly and then wiped back: the timber recovers its colour and copes better with dry indoor air. Clean the blade in warm water, dry it without delay, and check that the anti-opening safety slides freely, clear of debris. The pivot takes a drop of light oil, essential to the working of an assisted 82 mm blade.
