Overview

The ETUIMAXM is a medium-sized black nylon sheath made for a fixed blade or a large folding knife. Closed, it measures 255 x 120 mm and weighs 89 grams. Inside, a compartment 23 centimetres long takes the knife, and the closure is velcro. It is the in-between size in the range, the one for knives too long for a pocket pouch.

An inner width that adjusts from 10 to 13 cm

Length is easy to choose; width is the trickier dimension, because a fixed blade with a thick handle and a flat large folder do not fill the same space. Here the inner width adjusts from 10 to 13 centimetres, three centimetres of margin that change everything: the same sheath cinches down on a slim piece without letting it rattle, and opens up to take a fuller handle. One sheath can therefore cover several knives in a collection, or follow a knife that travels in its own scabbard.

Care

Nylon washes in warm soapy water and dries flat in open air, away from any heat source. Clean the velcro strips by hand or with a needle point to pull out the fibres caught in the hooks, which gives them their bite back. Put knives away dry: nylon holds moisture, and a blade stored wet keeps that damp against itself.
