Overview

The IWN dresses the Max Knives Impact Watch in black polycarbonate. It is the quietest version in the catalogue: sitting on a dark belt or on a bag strap, it blends into the kit rather than drawing the eye. The drawing does not shift by a line, the pocket watch outline, the ring, the one-finger hold; only the tone separates it from the five other colours in the series.

Belt, loop, bag strap: where it rides

The ring is the real starting point of the object. Threaded straight onto a trouser loop, it lets the piece hang flat against the hip, much as a pocket watch hangs from a waistcoat. With a carabiner it joins the buckle of a rucksack, the strap of a satchel or a keyring. Black brings a practical edge here: it follows the tone of most straps and belts, so the whole set stays of a piece.

Care

A damp cloth run over the body and around the ring lifts most of it. Polycarbonate takes warm soapy water and fears neither rain nor perspiration, since it does not oxidise. Dry after washing to avoid limescale marks. Keep the piece away from solvents and workshop degreasers. No oiling, no adjustment: the material looks after itself.
