Overview

The PASKS is the bright reading of the Impact Skull series: a silver aluminium that throws light back and lifts every edge of the skull cut from the solid. The shop singles it out for its original design, and this is indeed the variant where the motif reads most plainly, with nothing darkening it. The format matches the rest of the family, 58 mm by 35 at 11 mm thick, with a single finger seat and a tip fitted at the end.

The carbide tip and toughened glass

The tip that finishes the piece is tungsten carbide, a metallic ceramic made by sintering carbide powder with a binder. Its hardness sits far above that of steel and far above that of glass. That is what makes it useful against a car side window in toughened glass: such glass is put under tension during manufacture, so pressure concentrated on a tiny area releases all the stored tension at once and bursts the whole panel into granules. A broad-faced object triggers nothing; a very hard, very fine point does. That is the principle behind a glass breaker.

Care

A silver tone forgives marks better than black, though fine scratches show as soon as they catch the light: reach for a clean cloth rather than anything that scrapes. Aluminium is untroubled by corrosion in everyday use, so drying after rain is enough. Clean around the finger seat, where dust gathers, and keep the carbide tip free of deposits so it holds its bite.
