Max Knives MK504 — Mini Dagger fixed blade with 45 mm hawkbill

Overview

The MK504 stands apart from the rest of the line with a blade curving downwards like a bird of prey talon. It measures 45 mm, comes from stainless steel 2 mm thick and carries the stone washed finish shared by the Mini Dagger models. Behind it, the black G10 handle stretches over 86 mm, the longest grip of the four, leaving room for the fingers despite a short blade. The whole thing measures 116 mm overall, weighs 67 g and stores in its kydex sheath.

What a hawkbill blade changes

A hawkbill cuts on the pull. The concave curve draws material towards the bottom of the edge instead of letting it escape ahead of the point: a cord, a cable tie, a stretched plastic film ends up trapped in the hollow and gives way without pressure. It is a gripping shape, designed for clearing gestures made towards yourself. The low point, turned towards the ground, extends the same pulling logic.

Care

The stainless steel of the MK504 asks for the same discipline as its neighbours: rinse, dry, apply a light film of oil. The hollow of the edge holds residue more readily than a straight blade, so it pays to run a folded cloth through it rather than a flat hand. The G10 handle washes with soapy water. As for the kydex sheath, a regular rinse keeps grains of sand from settling at the bottom of the shell.
