Max Knives PASKL — One-finger brass impact tool, glass breaker

Overview

Among the seven variants of the Impact Skull series, the PASKL is the one that plays the yellow-metal card. Its body is brass, a copper and zinc alloy noticeably denser than the aluminium used elsewhere in the range, with a warm colour that turns golden under light. The drawing does not change: a skull, a single finger hole, a 58 by 35 mm footprint at 11 mm thick. This is the version for people who would rather watch an object change than keep it looking new.

Brass takes a patina

New brass is frankly yellow. In contact with air, moisture and above all hands, the surface slowly oxidises and gathers a golden-brown film known as patina. The process is uneven: the areas your fingers keep brushing stay bright, the hollows of the relief darken faster, and in the end the piece records the way it has been held. A copper cleaner takes that patina back off if you prefer the original yellow, and it then returns on its own. Nothing is lost along the way: the layer involved is vanishingly thin.

Brass body for this version of the Impact Skull series, single finger hole. It runs 58 mm long by 35 mm high, at 11 mm thick. Natural brass finish, with no added surface treatment. The end carries a tungsten carbide tip that serves as a glass breaker. Because brass is denser than aluminium, this variant feels different in the hand from the PASKAS, PASKN and PASKS for identical measurements.

Care

Nothing here is compulsory: patina is a surface state rather than a fault, and many owners simply let it arrive. If you prefer the bright yellow of fresh brass, a copper cleaner or a lemon-and-salt mix on a cloth brings the original colour back within minutes, followed by a rinse and thorough drying. Keep the carbide tip dry, and store the piece away from damp steel objects so it does not pick up contact marks.
