Overview

Fred Perrin designs knives led by use: contained formats, taut lines, nothing that improves neither grip nor function. The FP2303 applies that grammar to the Bowie. The 69 mm blade keeps the characteristic profile — straight spine, pronounced clip — within an overall length of just 150 mm, carried flat against the body in its kydex sheath.

Uses

A 3 mm fixed blade has no mechanism, so nothing to seize or wear out: it is the choice of mechanical simplicity. Neck carry keeps it accessible without filling a pocket. Bear in mind that carrying a blade in public without a legitimate reason is an offence in France and in most of Europe — the sheath is for storing the knife, not a licence to carry it anywhere.

Care

Wipe 440C dry after any wet use, particularly around the guard and the grind where water sits. Kydex is impervious but traps grit: rinse it with clean water from time to time. Sharpen on a stone at the original angle; Bowie geometry does not forgive improvised angles.
