Overview

The P15BE puts a natural material first: ram horn, whose shades and veining shift from one knife to the next. Around it sits thoroughly modern hardware, with a 57 mm 440C drop point blade, an assisted opening that carries the thumb movement through, and a frame lock. Closed it measures 80 mm; open, 144 mm; on the scale, 62 g of knife.

Ram horn, a material with no twin

Working horn means accepting that every handle differs: the tone, the pattern of the striations and the contrast between pale and dark zones belong to the original horn and cannot be repeated. Warm to the touch, it also feels unlike a composite in the hand, coming up to temperature quickly, never sticky, and taking on a patina over the years that many collectors actively look for. No two P15BE handles are quite alike.

Care

Horn is a living material: avoid long soaking, direct heat and harsh detergents that dry it out. A soft cloth and, once or twice a year, a trace of neutral oil worked in by hand keep its depth. On the blade side, wipe the 440C after use and lubricate the pivot so the assisted-opening spring keeps its snap. The frame lock likes a clean, dry joint to seat against.
