Overview

The MKBBKS takes the all carbon karambit principle into the shorter of the two sizes offered: 104 mm overall against 127 mm for the MKBBKM, and 11 g on the scale. Blade and handle come from the same carbon fibre, with no metal part. The drop point blade measures 36,5 mm and the stock reaches 4 mm, a generous figure given the overall dimensions. The rear ring takes a removable ball bearing, and a kydex sheath is supplied.

Why pick the short format

Between the two karambits of the pair, the gap comes down to 23 mm overall and one gram. That shortening mostly changes how the piece stows: closed into the palm, a 36,5 mm blade barely passes the fingers, and the whole slides into the flat volumes of a kit. The MKBBKS is, on the other hand, the thicker of the two, with 4 mm of material against 3 mm on the large model, which offsets the reduction in length.

Care

No corrosion to fear on a carbon fibre piece: a wash in warm water with mild soap, then careful wiping, is enough to put the karambit back in shape. Harsh products are best left aside, as the resin binding the fibres would gain nothing from them. Lift the bearing out of its seat to clean the ring on both sides. The kydex sheath rinses under the tap and dries on its own in a few minutes.
