Overview

The P59S stands apart in the series thanks to its spear point blade, carried between two stainless steel handles peppered with small, evenly spaced round holes. That fine perforation draws a crisp pattern along the full length and gives the silver a texture that catches light differently from a plain surface. The knife is 123 mm folded, 213 mm once the grip is rebuilt, and weighs 115 g. A 2.20 mm blade and a settled weight: this is a balisong you feel in the hand.

The spear point tip

The spear point takes its name from a lance head: the spine slopes gently toward the end, leaving the tip aligned with the middle of the blade rather than dropped or raised. The result is a centred tip supported by the material around it, where a very drawn-out profile would set it away from the main thickness. On this model the 2.20 mm of blade stock follows that outline fairly close to the end. For the user, the in-line silhouette gives the same visual cues as a dagger, but with a full spine that makes the blade's orientation easy to read.

Care

The small round holes in the handles are so many pockets for dust: a puff of compressed air or a soft brush empties them in one go, far better than a cloth skating over the top. Dry the steel after handling, especially with damp hands, and put a trace of oil on the pivots when the rotation starts to feel less free. Storing it dry and away from knocks against other metal objects preserves the silver finish.
