Overview

The MKSLS is a small solid brass pen 87 mm long, supplied with a paracord. The format fits a shirt pocket, a pencil case or a jacket pocket without taking up room, and the solid brass gives it a density that everyday lightweight pens never have. The paracord lets you attach it to a zip pull, a keyring or a notebook.

Brass takes on a patina

A new brass pen is yellow and bright; it does not stay that way. Through contact with the hand, the air and everything it meets in a pocket, the metal gradually darkens and picks up an uneven patina, deeper where fingers rest. That is simply what brass does, and it is what makes every example different after a few months. Those who prefer bright brass bring it back with a suitable polish; the rest let it happen, and the pen tells the story of its use.

The solid brass gives it a density you can feel as soon as you pick it up, in an overall length that stays that of a true pocket pen.

Care

Brass asks for no more than a dry cloth to lift fingerprints. Anyone wanting to keep the bright tone of new metal can use a brass polish, applied occasionally then rinsed and dried; everyone else lets the patina settle, which asks for nothing at all. The paracord washes in soapy water and air dries before being refitted.
