Max Knives SP50 — Self-adhesive diamond sheets, 240, 400 and 600 grit

Overview

The SP50 is not a finished sharpener: it is what you build one with. The pack holds three self-adhesive sheets coated with a layer of diamond, 50 x 100 mm each, in 240, 400 and 600 grit. Stick them onto whatever backing suits you, an offcut of hardwood, a flat plate, a strip of steel, the smooth face of a tool already on the bench, and you end up with an abrasive shaped for your own hand and your own workspace.

Three grits, one progression

Three sheets stand for three stages of the same job. The 240 does the cutting: it takes back a damaged edge and redraws the bevel when the blade no longer bites at all. The 400 follows and erases the deep scratches the 240 left behind. The 600 finishes, refines and evens out the cutting edge. Always in that order, coarse to fine, never the other way: a fine grit run over a deformed edge polishes the fault instead of correcting it.

Care

Pick a clean, dry and genuinely flat backing before sticking a sheet down: the flatness of the support becomes the flatness of the abrasive. After sharpening, wipe the diamond surface to clear the metal particles away without soaking the bonded area. Store the mounted support flat and dry, and keep the unused sheets in their packaging, away from the dust that settles on any exposed adhesive.
