Max Knives TIKNU3+C — Crazy anodised titanium one-finger tool, 78 mm

Overview

Third finish in the TIKNU3 group, the TIKNU3+C takes multicoloured anodising on a body of 78 x 34 mm and 10 mm thick. The surface that this format develops gives the shades room to answer one another from end to end of the piece, from the rim of the 26 mm hole to the nose that carries the tungsten carbide. The bottle opener stays cut into the profile. Like every crazy piece, this one shares its combination of colours with no other.

A 26 mm hole, several ways to carry

Twenty-six millimetres is a comfortable diameter for an index finger, thin gloves included. It is also wide enough to pass a lanyard cord, a paracord braid or the ring of a key set: the piece then travels hooked on rather than laid flat. A cord also changes how the object comes to hand, since it stays tied to the wrist or to a loop on a bag. Groups 2 and 3 share this 26 mm diameter, while group 1 stays at 25 mm.

Care

If you fit a cord through the hole, take it off before any wet cleaning: a soaked braid would hold moisture against the metal and against the carbide point. The body is cleaned with clean water then dried with a soft cloth, taking care around the notch. After a swim in the sea, a rinse in fresh water is in order. No polish, no metal paste: the oxide layer that carries the colours scratches faster than it can be put right.
