Overview

The FP2401C brings together in one set the titanium buckle drawn by Fred Perrin and the belt that goes with it. The buckle measures 60 mm long, 58 mm wide and 7 mm thick, for 38 grams: titanium, carrying two tungsten inserts that give it its glass-breaking function. The strap is leather, 130 cm long, and closes with a press stud. Nothing to hunt down, nothing to match up: the metal and the strap arrive together, ready to wear.

The 130 cm leather belt

The strap supplied is cut from leather over 130 cm, a length meant to be trimmed and set to the waist of whoever wears it: it fastens with a press stud, so the buckle can be taken off, the strap adjusted, and everything put back together without tools. That same fitting is what makes the belt versatile, since it accepts any of the four buckles in the range: the FP2401 delivered here, the longer and slimmer FP2402 in titanium, and the PA22B and PA22S models. One strap, then, and several ways to finish it depending on the day's outfit.

Technical specifications

The set is made of two parts. The buckle: titanium and tungsten, 60 mm long, 58 mm wide, 7 mm thick, 38 grams, with two tungsten inserts providing the glass-breaking function. The belt: leather, 130 cm long, press stud fastening, adjustable. The strap fits the FP2402, PA22B and PA22S buckles as well as the one it comes with. A Fred Perrin design, issued by Max Knives.

Care

Two materials, two habits. The titanium and tungsten of the buckle are happy with a soft cloth, dampened with lukewarm soapy water if needed, then dried; the metal does not rust and calls for no treatment at all. Leather is alive by comparison: wipe it after an outing in the rain and let it dry in open air well away from a radiator, then feed it now and then with a leather milk or wax so that it keeps its suppleness. Avoid storing it tightly folded.
