Max Knives MK513 — 110 mm 440C drop point fixed blade, kydex

Overview

The MK513 offers the most compact version of the drawing shared by its line. Its 110 mm 440C drop point blade stays 4 mm thick and carries the stone washed black finish common to the four models. The G10 handle measures 105 mm, nearly matching the blade, which brings the whole down to 215 mm overall for 271 g. The kydex sheath delivered with the knife is fitted with paracord, enough to lash it wherever you want on your gear.

The handiest format of the four

Twenty five millimetres less than the MK510, forty two less than the MK512: on a fixed blade meant to be carried, those gaps show at the belt. The MK513 is also the lightest of the group at 271 g, and its 4 mm blade stock stays the thinnest of the four. Together these figures produce a livelier piece to handle, balanced close to the junction of blade and handle, without giving up the stature of a real fixed blade.

Care

Rinse, dry, oil: three gestures are enough to keep this 440C in shape. The G10 handle is happy with soapy water and dries in open air. The paracord on the sheath can be taken off and washed separately if it has been used in muddy ground. The kydex empties by simply turning it over, a gesture worth repeating after every outing on sandy terrain so the shell keeps no abrasive particles.
