Max Knives MKBBKM — 127 mm carbon fibre karambit, sized ring

Overview

The MKBBKM is a karambit whose blade and handle are cut from the same material: carbon fibre. The piece is therefore single material in principle, with no metal part at all, and weighs only 12 g for 127 mm overall. The drop point blade measures 39 mm, the handle 88 mm, the stock 3 mm. At the rear, the ring characteristic of the karambit takes a removable ball bearing. A kydex sheath comes with the knife.

The ball bearing inside the ring

This is what makes this karambit singular. A karambit ring only does its job when it matches the finger passing through it: too wide and it turns, too tight and it hinders. On the MKBBKM, a ball bearing seats inside the ring and reduces its usable diameter; take it out and the full opening returns. Sizing therefore happens with no tools and no permanent change to the piece, according to the hand holding it and the finger chosen.

Care

Carbon fibre does not rust: care comes down to cleaning. Warm water, mild soap, a lint free cloth, then thorough drying; avoid aggressive solvents, which attack the resin binding the fibres rather than the fibres themselves. The ball bearing lifts out to clear the ring and clean its seat. The kydex sheath rinses and air dries, opening pointed downwards, before the karambit takes its place again.
