The blue one of the G10 trio: a two-tone composite handle whose machined edges reveal a line of the second colour, on a 77 mm 440C clip point blade in stone wash.
Overview
The FPPBG10B is the blue reading of the G10 trio within the Fred Perrin series published by Max Knives, alongside a grey and a brown version. The dimensions are those of the whole family: 77 mm 440C steel blade, 98 mm handle, 175 mm once open, 3 mm at the spine. Here the blade takes a clip point profile, plain edged and stone washed. The knife ships with its paracord and a kydex sheath on a chain, a fitting kept for the three G10 versions.
The line in two-tone G10
Two-tone does not mean painted in two colours. G10 is a stack of layers, and on these scales those layers are not all the same shade: blue, with a second colour underneath. As long as the surface stays flat, only the blue shows. But wherever the material has been machined at an angle, along the edges, around the drilled holes, in the chamfers, the cut runs through the stack and brings out a contrasting line that follows the tool path exactly. The shape of the handle then reads as a fine outline, revealed by machining rather than drawn on top of it.
Technical specifications
440C steel blade, plain edge, clip point shape, 77 mm long and 3 mm thick, stone washed finish. Blue two-tone G10 handle, 98 mm. Overall open length: 175 mm. Paracord supplied. Kydex sheath delivered with its chain. The other two shades of the trio, grey and brown, repeat the same construction and the same equipment.
Care
G10 is indifferent to damp: wash it in warm soapy water and, if the texture holds a little dust, a soft brush lifts it out without any risk. Rinse, let it dry, and that is all, with no feeding product to apply. The 440C steel, on the other hand, should be dried every time after use and then given a veil of knife oil before long storage. The sheath chain rinses just like the kydex and should be dry before it goes back on.
Legal notice for international buyers. Carrying it in public without a legitimate reason is an offence in France and in most European countries. It is the buyer's responsibility to check the law that applies where the order is delivered before purchasing.
