Overview

This piece carries the number 139. It shares every measurement with the FP1801: a 150 mm Bowie blade in 440C, 5 mm at the spine, stone wash finish, a 95 mm G10 handle, 260 mm overall, kydex sheath with tecklock. One detail sets it apart in the list of numbers still offered, though: together with No. 138 it forms the only consecutive pair that can be brought together today. It is the kind of detail that interests exactly one person, and matters a great deal to them.

What a number changes

On a numbered piece the figure is not decoration: it is an identity. Two knives from the same run leave with the same measurements, the same steel, the same finish, and yet one is not the other, because the number separates them for good. For a collector that shifts the question: you are no longer choosing a model, you are choosing a piece. Some decide on a date, an age, a figure that speaks to them; others look for continuity, two numbers that follow one another, a set that builds. No. 139 belongs to that second family, sitting directly beside No. 138.

Care

A piece you keep asks above all for regularity. Wipe the blade after every handling, including when it has cut nothing at all: fingerprints show on stone wash steel as they do on any other. Rinse and dry after use, then lay down a veil of light oil before storage. Avoid leaving the knife shut inside its kydex sheath for months without taking it out; an occasional check is enough to keep the steel clean and the tecklock properly tightened.
