Max Knives FPGTPLTM — folding Tanto Griffe, brown titanium ring

Overview

The FPGTPLTM closes the set of six folding Griffes with titanium rings on the most discreet tone: a dark brown, obtained by anodising, on an adjustable ring that sets itself to the finger. The 440C steel tanto blade measures 45 mm for 3.5 mm of thickness, and folds into an 80 mm G10 handle. Open, the knife runs 125 mm and weighs 59 g. A ring, a short blade: the principle Fred Perrin laid down holds in two elements, and it has not shifted since. Kydex neck sheath with paracord.

A numbered First Run series

These six models are issued as a numbered First Run series, that is, as the first production of the design. For a collector the point is worth noting: it places the piece at the start of the industrial life of a drawing, before later reissues and changes, and it attaches a number of its own to it. It is also what gives meaning to gathering the series: six pieces at the same dimensions, two point geometries and three ring tones, each one identified. The brown of the FPGTPLTM is the most muted variant, the one that plays the softest contrast against the G10 handle.

Care

Anodised brown keeps with warm water and a soft cloth; steer clear of stripping products just as you would avoid rubbing the ring against anything abrasive. The G10 handle washes the same way and dries straight after. On the blade, keep the 440C reflex: a wipe after any wet use, the joint left open while it dries, then a film of neutral oil. The kydex sheath rinses and dries in open air before the knife goes back in.
