Overview

The MK140 is a large working folder built for a full grip: 210 mm open, 122 mm closed, with an 88 mm drop point blade in 3Cr13 steel. Its stainless steel handle gives it real mass — 237 g — and that mass makes itself felt in the cut, because it steadies the hand. The lock is a liner lock: a spring cut from the inner liner snaps behind the heel of the blade as soon as it opens, and holds it there until your thumb pushes it aside. The belt clip is removable, and a nylon sheath comes with the knife.

Opening with either hand

The MK140 opens with the thumb thanks to dual thumb studs — one on each side of the blade — so it swings out just as easily left-handed as right-handed. A left-handed user has nothing to relearn, and nothing sticks out of the profile once the knife is closed. The spine of the blade carries a hooked belt cutter, and the butt of the handle ends in a glass-breaker point: two rescue features you forget about until the day they matter. The nylon sheath lets you carry it on the belt when you would rather leave the clip off.

Care

Wipe the blade after any damp use and dry the pivot area: 3Cr13 is a stainless steel, but no stainless steel enjoys staying wet. A drop of light oil on the pivot two or three times a year keeps the action crisp; work it in by opening and closing the knife a few times. If the handle has picked up dust or sand, rinse it under clean water and dry it thoroughly. Store the knife dry in its nylon sheath, and when you sharpen, hold the same angle along the whole length of the edge.
