Overview

The P62S is recognisable at a glance: its silver stainless handles carry an engraved chevron pattern running their full length. The 97 mm clip point blade stays in the same bright tone. This model also breaks ranks on its figures: 121 mm closed, the shortest folded format alongside the P61B, yet 219 mm once open, the greatest overall length of the series. With 113 g and 8.5 mm handles, it combines a generous grip with settled mass.

A chevron pattern engraved into the steel

Unlike skeletonising, engraving does not remove enough material to lighten the handle: it works the surface. The chevrons draw a run of angled ridges that break up the polish of the steel and make the reflection shift with the angle you view the knife from. Under the fingers, the relief feels like an even weave, with no deep hollow and no sharp rim. The handle therefore keeps its full 8.5 mm section and most of its mass while giving the hand a surface that is not perfectly smooth. It is an aesthetic choice as much as a grip detail.

Care

An engraved surface holds residue slightly more than smooth steel, down in the grooves: a soft dry toothbrush lifts it out with no risk to the engraving. Avoid vigorous polishing, which would gradually soften the relief of the pattern. The rest is standard: a wipe after handling, thin oil on both pivots, a check on the latch screw. Storing it flat and clear of other metal parts protects the ridges of the chevrons.
