Overview
The P50S keeps one clear line from end to end: a 98 mm spear-point blade in a silver finish, steel handles in the same tone, with no colour contrast to pull the eye away from the shape. The knife measures 117 mm shut, blade protected between the two halves of the handle, and 215 mm when those halves come together into a grip. The steel chosen for the blade is 3Cr13, a stainless grade common on knives that get handled a lot.
What blade length changes
On a balisong, blade length is not only about cutting capacity: it also sets the bulk of the knife and the way it behaves in the hand. The 80 mm models in this selection sit within a palm and stay very compact once shut, around 105 to 110 mm. At the other end, a 105 mm blade calls for a longer handle and pushes the open length past 220 mm. The 98 mm of the P50S falls between the two: the blade stays genuinely useful for cutting jobs, while the knife goes no further than 117 mm closed or 215 mm deployed.
Technical specifications
A 98 mm blade in 3Cr13 steel, spear-point profile, silver finish. The P50S measures 117 mm closed and 215 mm open. Its two half-handles are steel with a silver finish and each turns on its pivot around the heel, the blade housing itself between them when the knife is shut. The silver finish is stated for the blade as well as for the handles, which gives the knife an even tone across all its surfaces.
Care
A silver finish shows fingerprints sooner than a dark surface: a microfibre cloth is the best ally here, and two passes bring back the original look. 3Cr13 copes well with ambient humidity, but a veil of care oil is still advised before storing the knife for several weeks. Put a drop of light oil on each of the two pivots at regular intervals, then work the knife gently to spread it before wiping off the excess.
