Overview

The MK162 goes monochrome: an anodised aluminium handle in black whose surface is worked into a raised honeycomb, and an 81 mm black blade. The hexagonal relief is more than decoration, since it gives the fingertips something to press against. Closed, the knife measures 108 mm; open, 185 mm; on the scale, 72 g. The flipper releases the blade with one push of the index finger, and the liner lock secures it.

Honeycomb or camouflage, two characters

The MK162 and the MK160 come from the same drawing and share their dimensions figure for figure: 81 mm of blade, 108 mm closed, 185 mm open, 72 g. Visually, though, they part company. The MK160 wears a green and khaki camouflage that speaks to outdoor use; the MK162 stays fully black, with that cellular relief catching the light at an angle. The choice comes down to style and the grip you prefer.

Care

The honeycomb cells hold a little dust: a soft brush and soapy water clear them, followed by complete drying. Then run a dry cloth over the black blade and set a drop of light oil on the pivot, the one habit that keeps a flipper responsive. Check the clip screws periodically. For sharpening, hold the original angle and work in even passes on a stone.
